BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — According to a recent news release, the Boise Bicycle Project (BBP) Cofounder and Executive Director Jimmy Hallyburton announced his retirement after 16 years.
In his retirement letter, Jimmy said the following:
After the best 16 years of my life, I’ve decided to retire from BBP. My last day will be on Friday, September 29th, 2023. I’ve put a lot of thought into this decision, and I’ve experienced every emotion I can think of along the way. There are three emotions that continually emerge: Excitement, Confidence, and extreme Gratitude.I’m excited for BBP’s incredible team, the life-changing impact they will continue to make, and the new dreams they’ll bring to fruition. I’m confident that the strength of BBP is ingrained in our team and community of supporters, that the biggest, most inspiring, and most transformational impact is yet to come, and that now is the right time, for me and for BBP, to move on to a new and exciting phase.I’m beyond grateful for every interaction, every relationship, and every moment I’ve had at BBP. I’ve often described myself as the biggest beneficiary of BBP, and I truly believe it. The strength the community has given me and invested in BBP brings me to tears. After 16 years, I love this place just as much as ever. I love the 1000s of smiling kids riding their BBP bicycles, and I love you all for being part of it. I can’t wait to spend the next four months with you, celebrating all we’ve accomplished together, and getting our collective hands greasy a few more times. The release says BBP's Board has already started a succession plan. A job announcement for a new executive director will go live by the end of the week. BBP hopes to have the position filled in early September.
A Bike Prom retirement party is scheduled for Oct. 7, with an RSVP and more details coming soon.
