December 2019 marked 400 years the first slave ship left Africa. The government of Ghana marked that year with The Year Of Return Initiative calling home people of African origin.
The program saw a host of black Americans visiting various African Countries especially Ghana to tour slave castles and have a feel of our rich culture.

Ghanaian born Hollywood actor, Boris Kodjoe has described his journey to Ghana as very emotional and transforming.
Speaking on ABC network’s The View, Boris expressed that at least every person with an African descent should visit their roots ones in a lifetime.

‘There are 400 Million people of African descent living outside the country and every single person needs to go and experience that. It’s really amazing when you get the chance to reconnect with your roots.‘ He said.
When asked why he chose to make the trip, Boris echoed that Africa has been given a wrong identity by the world and he needed to show the world it is a beautiful place full of great people and culture.
‘The rest of the world doesn’t get a positive visual representation of Africa. All we associate Africa with is famine, war and disease due to decades of one dimensional media coverage. And we wanted to change that narrative.‘
