Former WWE Champion delivers a bold message to Cody Rhodes ahead of the Royal Rumble match

This week’s Raw was opened by American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. The superstar showed up to address the crowd in Little Rock. However, he was unexpectedly interrupted by Drew McIntyre. The two stars had an iconic face-off. The Scottish Warrior heavily praised Cody Rhodes, although he could not stop himself from making vicious statements about him.

McIntyre openly accepted the fact that Cody has done an incredible job in his career. He stated that he has been a true star and is working toward achieving his goal, which is inspirational. However, Drew acknowledged the fact that Rhodes is on his way to finish his story. However, he stated that he was going to be the one to finish his story before Rhodes.

Drew McIntyre to Cody Rhodes

This statement led to some animosity between McIntyre and the American Nightmare. Besides, Drew also mentioned his history with Cody. The two stars were involved in a tag team earlier in their careers called the Dashing Ones. Moreover, the former WWE champion tried to get under the skin of Rhodes.

It looks like there is some sort of heat between the two stars after this interaction on Raw. With the Royal Rumble ahead, it is going to be interesting to see the dynamics between them from here on out. It looks like the former WWE Champion is on the path of taking every other superstar on the roster down, the same thing he tried to do with CM Punk last week.

Cody Rhodes was the last person Drew McIntyre faced before returning to WWE

Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre have a rich history with each other. Both superstars were released by WWE before they reinvented themselves. During their hostile interaction on Raw, McIntyre shared the fact that Rhodes was the last superstar he wrestled before his return to WWE.

In 2017, at WCPW, Drew McIntyre, under the name of Drew Galloway, wrestled Cody Rhodes in what could be considered an instant classic match-up. The match acted as the farewell for Galloway before his WWE return in the same year as Drew McIntyre.

He wished him great success and even went on to call him “the chosen one.” The two stars have never faced each other since then in a one-on-one action. With this interaction, it is for sure that the two will settle the score based on their history down the line. Only time will tell when and where the two megastars will collide in WWE after a heated argument on Raw.
