Trainers, the recent Remote Raids changes are still a painful subject for all members of the community and are often discussed online.
Niantic and Pokemon Go increased, or as they like to call it “adjust,” the prices of the Remote Raid Passes to 525 PokeCoins. This change is something we didn’t want to see, but it happened and they must revert it. The HearUsNiantic movement is still going strong, and they must listen. But, it looks like they are 100% focused on making a profit, and they don’t care about the community at all.
A new Raid Box is currently available in the shop, and for 320 PokeCoins you will get 1 Star Piece and 2 Remote Raid Passes. This is a rip-off, and players say they won’t be getting the box.
A former Pokemon Go player, content creator, and Niantic influencer, who quit playing in late 2021, had something to say about this situation and justifies the players’ frustration and anger. He further explained that a lot of people who work at Niantic are on the players’ side (most of the time), and want to make the game even better. However, they don’t have the final word, and the decisions are made by someone else.
He further explains his experience with the company and says the best thing we should all do is – not spend any money. It looks like this is the only way for them to respond, so let’s try it and see the final result.
Here is the letter to the Pokemon Go fans and Niantic from Reversal:
“I figured I’d chime in as a Neutral Party on the whole Pokémon GO situation and what I’m seeing online.
For context, I quit Pokémon GO in late 2020 but I’ve been someone who’s had the opportunity to obtain a unique perspective and insight covering Pokémon GO, by being directly in touch with Niantic.
We’ve established for a while now that Niantic is really missing the mark on listening to the Pokémon GO community and this is the very reason I decided to step away from the game back in 2020. However, this should NOT be an excuse to start attacking and threatening the people working at Niantic.
Your frustration is fair and your anger justified, but please keep in mind that a lot of the people you see on Twitter who work at Niantic ARE actually for the most part on your side and want to help better the game, BUT do NOT actually have a “final say” in what will or will not change. In short, this situation is extremely complicated (for Niantic that is, not for the players) and I feel this sort of decision is made from higher up. I’m talking Board of Directors, Investors level probably. (just a guess)
During my time when I was a “Niantic Influencer for Pokémon GO” from 2017 to late 2020, I got the absolute pleasure of meeting a lot of the team working on the game and I know without a doubt in my mind that these are people who actually want what is best for the game but at the same time are simply a tiny cog in the wheel of the machine called Niantic and Pokémon GO.
I can assure you that Niantic has seen a majority of the tweets, posts, videos, and more that the community has posted, and truth to be told, the best thing you can do right now is SPEAK WITH YOUR WALLET and wait until they respond. (if they choose to)
There really isn’t a point in harassing people over your frustration because it’ll quite literally make things more complicated for everyone involved. It’s obviously fine to talk about your frustration about feeling ignored but I’d recommend you do so respectfully without actually threatening anyone because there isn’t “one single person” at fault here.
I’m sure most of you have been in the situation where you had shit goes down at work and suddenly you find yourself in a really stressful and frustrating situation. Well, that’s Niantic right now and the people working at it so put yourselves in their shoes and imagine how you’d feel if you or your colleague would be the one getting harassed/threatened.
Why did I write this?
Well I love Pokémon GO, I care for Pokémon GO and it’s been a big part of my life and I want it to succeed, eventhough I don’t play it anymore. Pokémon GO will always hold a special place in my heart and I do genuinely believe that in due time Niantic will respond but I imagine they are figuring out the best way to respond because THEY KNOW that they are on super thin ice right now.
To Niantic:
Listen… It’s really quite simple honestly, stop saying “we love our community” if you’re going to backstab your community, get people to actually listen better and stop being so damn stubborn with shoving your core missions down people’s throats. If you want to be around in 5-10 years, you better listen to your community because this stuff’s a 2-way street.
