Red Bull envisions troubled days ahead of F1 entry with its own enginein2026

Red Bull made a deal with Ford in 2023 as their partners in providing technical assistance in developing engines for 2026 and beyond. The FIA has since announced a new set of regulations for Formula 1, which will be the first of the challenges faced by the Michigan-based firm.

The Christian Horner-led outfit has been in a partnership with Honda, which has supplied its engines since 2019. While there is excitement for a new powertrain (Red Bull Powertrains) from 2026, Red Bull’s chief engineer Paul Monaghan is quite concerned.

The Brit talks of the unpredictability of the new regulations in determining the performance of their new power units. He has talked of the need for the team to work harder to achieve greater success in the future.

If we want to be as strong as we can be in 2026, we have to make that project work, so there are challenges there, but equally, the scope to do at least a good job if not better than we've enjoyed with Honda is there for us and we have to take it with both hands. It will have its troubled days, it will have its good days, but that is our engine for 2026.
Paul Monaghan told select media including RacingNews365

Red Bull has enjoyed significant success with Honda over the past few years and is leading the championship this season as well. The outfit will now hope for the continuation of its strong runs with the backing of Ford in 2026.

Red Bull chief highlights Max Verstappen’s exceptional racing qualities

Red Bull Technical Director Pierre Wache has offered an insight on working with the three-time world champion Max Verstappen. Wache talked of the Dutchman’s outstanding abilities along with a unique trait of his.

It gives him the capacity first to free some brain capacity to drive at the same time and analyse what he needs and what he wants. His feedback is very interesting, because he operates the car at the limit, how nobody else is using it.
Pierre Wache told Crash

Wache praised Max Verstappen‘s ability to give detailed feedback while racing to the limit. He described Verstappen’s dialogue as unique and interesting, which makes him a standout talent among others on the grid.

The 26-year-old is eyeing a fourth consecutive title triumph this season, having won seven races so far. And while many might critique Verstappen’s incessant need to be vocal, one cannot simply ignore his brilliance in these moments as well. Several eyes will be glued on Verstappen during the fast-approaching second half of 2024.
