Starfield: How to Sell Items

Finding places to sell your items in Starfield can be difficult for first-time players. Here’s a quick guide to get you started!

You know you are in for an immersive experience when you sign up for any open-world title from Bethesda Game Studios. Their latest release, Starfield, is no different either. While searching for artifacts, you will come across various resources and items that you can collect.

If you gather more than you can expend, then these resources and sellable items will eventually fill up your inventory and prevent you from carrying anything else. This may make you wonder how to sell your unused resources and items in Starfield.

The answer is quite simple: you sell them to shops that are found throughout the game. Interact with a vendor, ask them to see their wares, and then select “sell items.”

But there are a few things that you may have to consider. And that is what we will be discussing in this guide today!

Where to Sell Items in Starfield?

Like with any other Bethesda games, in Starfield, your local map might not be the best place to look if you are searching for shops to sell your items.

Starfield wants you to experience the life of a space traveler down to the last details. So, you better note where the shops and vendors are if you want to sell your items.

Here are three major places where you can start selling your items:

  • New Atlantis
  • Akila City
  • Neon City

Where to Find Shops in New Atlantis

  • Trade Authority Kiosk

You will encounter Trade Authority Kiosks throughout the game. They look like small ATM booths, usually with around 5,000 credits for item exchange.

The one in in New Atlantis is directly to the right of your landing zone.

  • Jemison Mercantile

On the left side of the spaceport landing area, you will come across Jemison Mercantile. Here, you can sell your items by interacting with Amoli.

  • UC Surplus

Go to the right backside of Jemison Mercantile, and you will find an elevator that will take you to the ‘Well’. After exiting the elevator, you should see the UC Surplus store on your right.

  • Trade Authority

You can directly trade with the Trade Authority. To find the one in New Atlantis, you must go down to the ‘Well.’

Once you pass the UC Surplus store and go to your left, you will see the Trade Authority sign soon enough.

  • Centurion Arsenal

You will find this store in the residential area. Take the transit from the spaceport to the residential area. Once the location is loaded, go to the left, and the shop should be right there.

Do keep in mind that this is a primary weapon shop, so they won’t buy anything that is not a primary weapon.

  • UC Distribution Center

In the commerce district, go to the right, and you will see the square-shaped building of UC Distribution.

This shop is located directly opposite the UC Distribution Center. The Outlander is a spacesuit vendor. So, you will only be able to trade spacesuits & helmets here.

Where to Find Shops in Akila City

  • Trade Authority Kiosk

There is a Trade Authority Kiosk beside the ship services.

  • Shepard’s General Store

This shop is located on the left of the main street.

  • Rowland Arms

You will find this shop to the left of Shepard’s. This is a weapons store, so you can only sell weapons here.

  • Trade Authority

To access the trade authority, go through the alley between the Galbank & Hitching post. The building will be on the left.

  • Laredo Firearms

Take a left from the trade authority and walk close to the city walls. You will find the shop soon. This is also a weapon-only shop, so keep that in mind before coming here.

Where to Find Shops in Neon City

  • Trade Authority

The Trade Authority building is on the left of the main street.

  • Neon Tactical

This shop is located directly opposite the Trade Authority on the main street.

  • Newill’s Goods

Right after the Neon Tactical building, you will find Newill’s Goods.

  • Sieghart’s Outfitters

As the name suggests, this is an outfit store where you only sell outfits. It is found in the opposite direction of the main street from the Trade Authority.

  •  Stroud Eklund

Right next to Sieghart’s Outfitter, you will find the Stroud Eklund, where you may sell any additional ship items you might have in your inventory.

Remember that there are other small vendors or vendors hidden behind side quests that you may stumble upon later on.

What Can You Sell?

To sell items in Starfield, you must keep some conditions in mind. There are certain items that you can’t sell to traders. Sometimes, you may have to visit someone specific to sell an item.

For example, you won’t be able to trade your Starfield Contraband at kiosks, but you can do that with a human representative of the trade authority.

Also, there are some vendor-specific items that can be sold to that type of vendor only. For example, primary weapon sellers won’t buy your extra ship components and vice-versa.

This rule usually doesn’t apply to general store owners. But if there is a condition, then that item won’t be accessible through the trade menu in-game when you interact with the merchants.
